Police Want To Legalize Marijuana Too!

The police disagree with the criminalization of Marijuana use too!

In Rolling Stone Magazine Baltimore narcotics veteran Neil Franklin says:

“If you are truly a proponent of public safety, if you truly want safer communities, then it’s a no-brainer that we have to end drug prohibition and treat [marijuana] as a health issue, like we did with tobacco,” says Franklin. “Education and treatment is the most effective and cost-efficient way to reduce drug use.”

On the other hand, adds Franklin, “If you support a current system of drug prohibition, then you support the very same thing that the cartel and neighborhood gangs support. You might as well be standing next to them, shaking hands.  Because they don’t want an end to prohibition, either.”

EVERYTHING Americans Think They Know About Drugs is WRONG!

High Price Book Cover

I saw an incredible documentary the other night. It detailed how the war on drugs is a complete and utter failure! In the last 40 years we have spent TRILLIONS of dollars fighting the war on drugs and it has only gotten worse. We have thousands and thousands of people locked up for simple possession charges… There was one inmate interviewed that was arrested for having 3 ounces of Crystal Meth… He had two minor violations previously for marijuana. (He was selling the Meth because he lost his job and needed to take care of his family).

He is now doing LIFE in prison with no option for parole. He will spend the rest of his life in a prison, which as he said is basically like a very long death sentance. The inmate sitting next to him raped and murdered someone and will be out in 6 years!

The link below is to an interview with a Columbia Professor named Carl Hart. He was a major role in the movie… He just wrote the book “High Price: A Neuroscientist’s Journey of Self-Discovery That Challenges Everything You Know About Drugs and Society. I know you will find this incredibly interesting!

If you are interested and I KNOW you will be the movie is available on Amazon too… It Is The House I Live In… I met the producer of the movie and she was incredibly forthcoming about her experience with the people she interviewed. She said with no exception everyone from the Judges, to the Prison Guards, to the prosecutors and of course the inmates… 100% of them said the system is a mess and is a complete failure.

The war on drugs has never been about drugs… It’s about money!

Everything Americans Think They Know About Drugs Is Wrong: A Scientist Explodes the Myths

Columbia University scientist Carl Hart combines research and anecdotes from his life to explain how false assumptions have created a disastrous drug policy.
June 13, 2013  |

What many Americans, including many scientists, think they know about drugs is turning out to be totally wrong. For decades, drug war propaganda has brainwashed Americans into blaming drugs for problems ranging from crime to economic deprivation. In his new book High Price: A Neuroscientist’s Journey of Self-Discovery That Challenges Everything You Know About Drugs and Society, Carl Hart blows apart the most common myths about drugs and their impact on society, drawing in part on his personal experience growing up in an impoverished Miami neighborhood. Hart has used marijuana and cocaine, carried guns, sold drugs, and participated in other petty crime, like shoplifting. A combination of what he calls choice and chance brought him to the AIr Force and college, and finally made him the first black, tenured professor of sciences at Columbia University.

Intertwined with his story about the struggles of families and communities stressed by lack of capital and power over their surroundings is striking new research on substance use. Hart uses his life and work to reveal that drugs are not nearly as harmful as many think. For example, most people who use the most “addicting” drugs do not develop a problem. Rather, Hart says, drugs are scapegoated for problems related to poverty. The policies that result from this misconception are catastrophically misguided. AlterNet spoke with Hart about his life and research.

San Jose Cannabis Club Helps Feed Hungry Children with Second Harvest Food Bank

(PRWEB) May 21, 2013

MedMar Healing Center announces their participation in the CannaCommunity Solutions food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Twenty-eight businesses, including MedMar Healing Center, doctors, and clubs, are coming together to participate in the food drive. The goal is to raise food to help area kids who have been impacted by the economic problems facing their families in recent years.

We like being able to give back to our community and help those in need, explains Douglas Chloupek of MedMar Healing Center. Taking part in the food drive may seem like a small gesture but, when combined with the others who are participating, adds up to a lot of help for those who need it.

From now through July 31, 2013, anyone who would like to participate can drop off their food donations at the MedMar Healing Center, located in downtown San Jose at 170 S. Autumn Street. The items that Second Harvest Food Bank reports as being most needed include pop-top tuna, graham crackers, fruit cups packed in juice, cheese and crackers, low-sugar cereal, pretzels, high-fiber cereal bars without peanuts, and 100-percent-fruit juice boxes. The food bank distributed 45 million pounds of food to low-income people last year, serving those in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

MedMar Healing Center is no stranger to food drives. They participated in a food drive during the Christmas holidays, where they helped to raise over 1,800 pounds of food. They also participated in the CannaCommunity Solutions food drive two years ago that resulted in 10,000 pounds of food being collected, as well as others.

We are always happy to participate in the food drives, added Chloupek. People often want to help others but dont know how. This is how they can grab some items when they are on sale and donate them, knowing those items will be directly put to use to help others in their own community.

MedMar Healing Center provides a full range of medical marijuana products for Prop 215 patients, flowers, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, and more. For more information, visit, or call (408) 385-9600.
